Guest perola Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Hello. I am a son of the late authors, Ingri and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire. For an evolving look at these authors and their works, there is an informational Facebook page available just for that purpose at http://www.facebook....sChildrensBooks If anyone has specific questions about about the d'Aulaires and/or their works, I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability and the time I have available, either in this Forum or on the Facebook page referenced above, -Per Ola d'Aulaire Quote
dangermom Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Oh wow! Are you really? I have loved the D'Aulaire books my whole life. We have most of the easy-to-get ones (which aren't many). Those pictures are what the Greek myths look like in my head. Um, I can't think of any questions right now though. :blushing: Quote
kubiac Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Wow, Per, it's an honor to have you here! The FB is great--I'm thrilled to see that "Children of the North Lights" just came back in print! Your parents' Greek mythology book was a continual source of wonder for me as a child. As an adult, I'm enjoying exploring their other works and making them available to my son. Thank you to your family for all they have done for mine! Quote
Guest perola Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 It's highly rewarding to see the renewed interest in these "golden oldies". Over that past seven years, many d'Aulaire classics have made it back into print and more are in the offing. Random House of course publishes "d'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths" in paperback, hardback and as an audiobook (CD and MP3). Seven various chlidren's titles are available from the New York Review Books including "d'Aulaires' Book of Norse Myths" which is a handsome companion to the Greek Myths work: http://www.nybooks.c...del=books__book Five titles in the historical series are published by Beautiful Feet Books, available individually or as a package: http://bfbooks.com/D...-Biography-Pack Finally the University of Minnesota Press has just brought back "Children of the Northlights" ... http://www.upress.um...the-northlights ...and is proceeding with several other Scandanivian-themed titles. Look for "Ola" to appear next in line, in the Fall of 2013. Of course, everything is or will be available on the Amazon.com website. Anyone interested in adding his or her thoughts to the appropriate Amazon review area is encouraged to do so. Happy hunting! -Per Ola d'Aulaire Quote
