GPS accessories help?

I just bought a Garmin nuvi 2455LMT GPS, but using the suction cup to lodge it to the windshield is a bit unreliable. I would like something I don't have to worry about -- but when I looked online, I quickly became overwhelmed with all of the options, etc.

 

Does anyone have a dashboard mount (my car's dash is just a bit sloped, but the passenger seat would be a fine option for me in that case) that they find to be stable?

 

Oh, and maybe a protective case? Amazon has one for a 5-inch GPS. My GPS is 4.3 inches. I don't know if I would have to pack it with a cloth or something...I mean, would it slide around and be damaged in a case?

 

I have been learning to use this all evening. Man, I am so not a natural at this!

I have this Garmin portable friction mount and it is FANTASTIC!!! http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Portable-Friction-Mount-Frustration/dp/B002OL2MU4 We keep it in the storage compartment in the car with the GPS attached. When we need it we just pull it out and throw it up on the dash. It stays in place with no sliding around.

Put a dot of dishsoap on the suction cup and it will stick until you take it off. Have a paper towel ready t clean up the soap that comes out of it when you put it on the window.
