Grammar mechanics... need ideas. 6th grader

we have been doing grammar mechanics for years now and it is just not sticking with my 6th grader. she can barely remember to capatilize and punctuate sentences properly. we have tried just about everything i can think of, including editing and it still frustrates her to no end. she does have a few learning disabilities, so im not sure if this plays into this..... but by now, she really should have a grasp of some of this. any ideas or thoughts? thanks so much!
