radiobrain Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Seriously, a McD's milk jug rolled under the seat. It was never opened....as it rolled under there. 3 weeks later I'm like, WTH is that smell in here? Did I run over a dead catfish? It was horrible. It IS horrible. The milk had gotten so rotten it ruptured the bottle. :cursing: I got extra strength Febreze, which is sort of gross too, and totally soaked the carpet under there. It did help a bit, but it is now febreze (not a scent I would've picked, but I was going for strength) laying on top of a light dead thing smell. So, oh wondrous hive.... how do I neutralize this foul stench? Do I pour alcohol on it? Do I pour baking soda on it? Do I just drink the alcohol and try to forget it exists? Is this a case of Seinfeld car? PLEASE ADVISE!!!! Quote
Mandamom Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I usually use pet enzyme neutralizers that you can pick up from the pet store or pet section. Make sure it has enzymes as they are supposed to neutralize organic odors. That's what I do. Quote
Denisemomof4 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I would suggest you pour some alcohol on it, then drink a little. Pour a little, drink a little. Keep doing it until the odor is gone or no longer matters .. I know that animal miracle breaks down the animal smells, milk is from an animal....... Wonder if that would work? Quote
NorthwestMom Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I'm afraid you are going to have to sell this car. Kidding. Professional detailing. It will be worth every cent. Good luck. Quote
redheadmom Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 You could try borax on the area, but it might work better if you use 2 TB Borax, 2 TB baking soda with 1 quart hot water. Quote
lailasmum Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Carpet shampooing is the way to go. We have a carpet washer and it's been used in the cars many times. Quote
