This update reminded me of the OLD, OLD WTM board days...

Recommended Posts

I remember not liking the new boards back then. Need to keep that in mind! lol Never got to be first.

I liked the old, old boards (new acronym--OOB?) because I could see so much info at one time, but I got used to the change quickly.

I went to VS to sell stuff and to buy books, but didn't like that there were vendors allowed.

Vegsource: there's a flashback! I don't go there anymore and not sure many others do either. It seems to have really slowed in the last few years.

VS used to be my home page. :-) I was even a moderator for awhile (VS kept its moderator indentities secret). But TPTB had to institute some serious posting protocols because of spam (once there were over 900 spams in one fell swoop), which made it painful to post anything. I learned so much on VS, and I miss it. Boohoo.

I've always been mostly a lurker, but I remember the old, old old board, too! I think that format inspired humor, for some reason, as it seems like I was always laughing out loud when reading the posts back then. I learned an awful lot from the ladies who were posting regularly at that time.

LOL! I remember still having dial-up for internet in 1999. I alternated between Vegsource and TWTM - eventually ditching Vegsource because of some very uncivil, argumentative folks. But back in those days VS was my "go to" source for used curriculum. I remember sitting at the computer on the sale/swap boards clicking the "refresh" button every few seconds and cursing dial-up all at the same time :cursing:

I found TWTM boards to have a much more civil tone and, of course, the content was more specific to my desires so I've been here since. Honestly, I love change - anywhere. I like the new boards, I don't understand the problem with the colors, and I'm just hoping and praying that making the boards more visible won't cause some of those old Vegsource crazies to join us here :crying: .

Don't forget that conversations occurred in "real time" and were posted directly underneath each other on the main page...which led to many interesting (and evolving) threads. :tongue_smilie:
The real-time threads made it easier to convey humor or correct when the humor didn't come across, and yes--conversations played out differently. And the trolls...oh my! We had dial-up in those days, so I appreciated the fact that it was easy to keep track of threads. It was easier too, to avoid threads which you knew were going to cause trouble and give the mods a headache! :leaving:
