TravelingChris
Yes, I remember. I have been a member since 1999 since I remember all the Y2k talk.
Michelle My Bell
I was there! I remember when the board to go to was Veg Source. Does anyone go there anymore?
Researcher
Vegsource: there's a flashback! I don't go there anymore and not sure many others do either. It seems to have really slowed in the last few years.
StaceyinLA
I remember those times the board would turn over. I think the closest I ever got to the first post was maybe 10th. I also spent time on VS - that's where I sold my first used curriculum!
rockermom
I remember lurking back in those days. :p
PBnJ
I used to read VS all the time back then. I never go there anymore, haven't for several years. I have been reading WTM boards since around 2001. Ha ha, I can remember when everyone was trying to post first when the board changed... Tracy in Ky
..back when it was the list and we'd all try to be the first one to post and start the first thread. Anyone here remember *those* days? LOL Great work on the new, new, new boards!! Yes--I remember those days. And I still miss the reply lists that would show up on the main page :)
Chris in VA
I remember not liking the new boards back then. Need to keep that in mind! lol Never got to be first. I liked the old, old boards (new acronym--OOB?) because I could see so much info at one time, but I got used to the change quickly. I went to VS to sell stuff and to buy books, but didn't like that there were vendors allowed.
Ellie
Vegsource: there's a flashback! I don't go there anymore and not sure many others do either. It seems to have really slowed in the last few years. VS used to be my home page. :-) I was even a moderator for awhile (VS kept its moderator indentities secret). But TPTB had to institute some serious posting protocols because of spam (once there were over 900 spams in one fell swoop), which made it painful to post anything. I learned so much on VS, and I miss it. Boohoo.
ElaineJ
I've always been mostly a lurker, but I remember the old, old old board, too! I think that format inspired humor, for some reason, as it seems like I was always laughing out loud when reading the posts back then. I learned an awful lot from the ladies who were posting regularly at that time. Elaine
Elinor Everywhere
Haha, I remember those days! Hard to believe I've been on the boards so long. I'm sure I'm the same age. (Insert smilie but I'm on my iPad and there isn't an option today)
DB in NJ
Yep, I remember those days! .....and some trolls from back then too. One in particular I will *never* forget.
StephanieZ
On, yes, I remember all those 'me first!' Threads! And I also remember how everyone bitched and moaned when we converted over to the old new boards, lol.
Miss Marple
LOL! I remember still having dial-up for internet in 1999. I alternated between Vegsource and TWTM - eventually ditching Vegsource because of some very uncivil, argumentative folks. But back in those days VS was my "go to" source for used curriculum. I remember sitting at the computer on the sale/swap boards clicking the "refresh" button every few seconds and cursing dial-up all at the same time :cursing: I found TWTM boards to have a much more civil tone and, of course, the content was more specific to my desires so I've been here since. Honestly, I love change - anywhere. I like the new boards, I don't understand the problem with the colors, and I'm just hoping and praying that making the boards more visible won't cause some of those old Vegsource crazies to join us here :crying: . Laura Corin
Yup, I remember the fleeting joy of being first on a new board. I remember beating you to that honour just one time. Why did it feel so good to be first? Laura
funschooler5
I remember the old boards...I didn't post that much, but I started following the boards in 2001. And I bought and sold a ton of curriculum on VS!
Mommyfaithe
Yep...me too. I still miss the old format...lol. It was so easy to click open a bunch of posts....shut down the dial-up, then read! Oy!

Jenn in FL
Don't forget that conversations occurred in "real time" and were posted directly underneath each other on the main page...which led to many interesting (and evolving) threads. :tongue_smilie:

[email protected]
Moderating the old boards was horrible. If you deleted a thread, the title still stayed up...so people figured out how to put their snarky comments into the titles, which meant that you could never actually remove a fight. It just went on and on. But, yeah, easy to read. Moderator
HappyGrace
I wanted SO so badly to be the first one on these new boards just so I could say "FIRST!!! for old times' sake :)

C_l_e_0..Q_c
I remember beating you to that honour just one time. Why did it feel so good to be first? Laura LOL! your memory is great! I don't remember anyone at all who was first or not... being first made you feel like you belonged in that group. It was instant acceptance. Tullia
Don't forget that conversations occurred in "real time" and were posted directly underneath each other on the main page...which led to many interesting (and evolving) threads. :tongue_smilie: The real-time threads made it easier to convey humor or correct when the humor didn't come across, and yes--conversations played out differently. And the trolls...oh my! We had dial-up in those days, so I appreciated the fact that it was easy to keep track of threads. It was easier too, to avoid threads which you knew were going to cause trouble and give the mods a headache! :leaving:
