1pageatatime Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 For those who've used this program for several kids and/or grades, is her review accurate or fair? Here is the link. Quote
TracyP Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Yes. :001_smile: I have used grades 1 - beginning of grade 5. Quote
Mommy22alyns Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I agree. I've used 1-3, and partway through 4 now. I am curious, though, about speed drills being in the first LU for grade six? So do you keep referring to that unit for speed drills, or is that only for review, or what? Quote
1pageatatime Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Oh, okay. I have a love/dislike for CLE math, and honestly couldn't tell if her review was favorable. Sometimes her reviews seem a little.....uptight. Thanks!:) Quote
Jennifer WI Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I have to say, I'm glad there are no more in grade 6! My ds will be finished with grade 5 around Christmas and moving on to 602. He's been drilled so much and knows it so well by now that it's time to move on. Of course, with my personality I can't let him just be done and skip those that are left, because they are in the back of the book and therefore MUST be done! :tongue_smilie: Oh, the darn box checker in me! We love CLE. It's the first math we've ever been able to stick with. And let me tell ya, I've tried a LOT. MUS, Singapore, T.T., Right Start, etc. CLE is thorough and doable for my family. Praise the Lord we finally found a fit! Quote
1pageatatime Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 I just read it again, and she states that CLE isn't aligned with the Core Standards. What? She doesn't say why, so can someone tell me what she means? Quote
sewingmama Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Thanks -I have just been considering it - math is still a work in progress here :glare: Quote

She doesn't say why, so can someone tell me what she means? I think more because things aren't always covered in the same sequence. An example might be that most of division is delayed until 4th, where it's begun along side multiplication in something like SM beginning in 3A. Quote
julikins Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I'm using CLE math now and really like it. I hadn't researched the upper elem. grades and jr. high yet, so it was good to see what she thought of the program as a whole. It's still a keeper for me. My son enjoys it and there are no more tears at math time. Quote

hsmom2011 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 We just started using CLE Math for grade 2 and my dd loves it. I have not seen her this motivated about doing math, so it gets an A+ here! :) Quote
razorbackmama Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I just read it again, and she states that CLE isn't aligned with the Core Standards. What? She doesn't say why, so can someone tell me what she means? She's referring to the Common Core Standards, which is a specific set of standards on what grade children should learn what in. She mentioned that CLE is ahead of the CCS in some areas and behind in others. The CCS is a set of standards that has been adopted by most of the states so that children in public schools in those states are learning the same thing in the same grade. (In theory anyway LOL) Quote
