Michelle My Bell Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 How many credits are too many? My daughters transcripts look like there will be 27.5 credits. Is that too many? Quote
74Heaven Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 It is not too many, but be sure and weed out where you can - or turn a class into extracurricular if you get too many. Lisa J, mom to 5 (2 grads, 9th, 7th, 4th) Quote

8filltheheart Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Explain Extracurricular, does that mean I don't give credit for it? Extracurricular means no credit.....just an outside activity. As far as credits, many high schools require 28 to graduate, so 27.5 is just avg. Quote

Now I guess I can give her more credits for the work she has done. Quote
Joani Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 That doesn't sound like too many to me. My state requires 24 credits for graduation, but 28 is typical for college-bound students in our area. Quote
EKS Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Graduates of my sons' private school routinely have 30 credits on their transcripts. About 15% of those are art related and another 20% are electives like yearbook, choir, and underwater basket weaving. Quote
Lori D. Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 27.5 looks fine! Not too many at all. Explain Extracurricular, does that mean I don't give credit for it? Correct. For example, instead of counting participation on swim team as hours toward a PE credit, you could just count that on the extracurricular list as Swim Team. This is totally optional, your choice, how to best represent your student for future college applications and potential scholarships. Quote
elegantlion Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Our state requires 24 for graduation, but our local district requires 28. We plan to use the 28 goal. Quote
