Hunter
I don't know how to fit in all 7 Elements and 8 Principles. Is it crazy to just teach the elements, if it means skipping the principles entirely except for a single lesson that lists and defines them? I've often noticed in all subjects, that when I add in all the details, the most important topics are lost in the fog. I'm working harder to accomplish less. As I look through the older edition of What Your _ Grader Needs to Know and pencil in what topics I want to add into the sequence, I'm having the hardest time with art--of all things. Okay, so I know the point of art is more about the process and feeding the spirit more than the mind. So I don't really NEED to teach any elements or principles at all. Soul food doesn't come with checklists. But...I'm kind of obsessed with teaching line and color, and then the rest of the elements (at least) kind of take over and nag me in my sleep until I teach them.
