klmama
Does anyone here have their dc wear a lab coat when they do experiments? Just wondering if that's something that has gone over well, or if it's seen as strictly a play dress-up item.
Harriet Vane
My daughter LOVED wearing a lab coat for science experiments. She had a white terrycloth beach robe that she used for the purpose. A friend of mine was so inspired by dd's delight in her "lab coat" that she made a bunch of lab coats for a science activity for her own dd and dd's friends. This friend of mine bought a bunch of men's white button-down shirts at the thrift story and cut off the collars and cuffs, then hemmed the ragged edges. The kids were delighted with their lab coats and all got quite a lot of use from them.
Pixjen
I was able to find some adult small lab coats at the local thrift and goodwill stores. Men's white button down shirts are also good in a pinch.

Just wondering if that's something that has gone over well, or if it's seen as strictly a play dress-up item. Hmm... I could see my youngest wanting to wear a lab coat on experiment days. Good idea! Does it matter if they're costumes? I might have to order one from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Aeromax-Coat-Length-Child-8-10/dp/B0020B5CXM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1352621009&sr=8-3&keywords=kids+lab+coat+costume I'd just tell my kid matter-of-factly that it's the appropriate attire for that kind of work. I think it would help my daughter take her work more serious. Plus it looks like fun:001_smile:
