Wheres Toto
I've been around here a while but have never sold anything. Now I am looking to get rid of a few things I know we'll never use plus we're in a little bit of a financial squeeze and with Christmas coming..... Anyway, before I post anything I want to make sure I'm doing it right. When something says "ppd" that means the price includes postage right? Would this usually be media mail postage and if the buyer requests return receipt or regularly shipping, that would be extra? Any helpful tips for pricing? I have a few items that have never been used, some that were never used but have some cover creases, some that have a few marks on a few pages (that don't interfere with the program) and one that has a few pages of one lesson done. Are there any easy percentage guidelines to pricing? Anything else I should watch out for? I've read a few threads about problems people have had and know not to agree to personal paypal. Thank you. A.Balaban
Ppd includes *domestic* U.S. shipping. I always send books via media mail and I always include delivery confirmation. If you purchase your postage online through Paypal, then they discount the delivery confirmation. Media mail shipping is super easy to do from home without a post office scale. For the weight, go to Amazon and find out how much the book weighs. Cost is determined by weight. (If a book weighs 1.2 lbs, round up to 2lbs) (http://reviews.ebay.com/USPS-Media-Mail-Service-updated-01-24-09?ugid=10000000001725732) If someone wants Priority or International shipping then, the best thing to do would be to say "Let me get you a shipping quote. Can I have your zipcode/mailing address?" That way, you can run down to the post office and get an exact quote *before* you send them an invoice from Paypal. I always use the invoice system from Paypal. If the buyer asks for anything extra, then yes, I do adjust the price. Often times I also make a note that if someone is buying multiple items then I will adjust the shipping quote to reflect actual shipping cost. For pricing, it really depends on what you have. I suggest searching the "For Sale" forums and see what other people are selling similar items for. I'd also suggest checking Homeschool Classifieds.com for comparable prices. It also depends on your market (what types of homeschoolers use these items, what ages, etc...) You can also check out Amazon to see if any of the newer items they will issue a gift care for- it is less hassle but you get less money. Selling can be a big hassle. Good luck! :)
Wheres Toto
Thank you, that is very helpful. I'm not completely sure I want to do this but don't really have a choice. :001_unsure:
