RoughCollie
Nestle said the problem occurred on batches of the the mix produced in October. The bottom of the canister says it is best to use by October 2014. The size of the canisters affected are 40.7 ounces, 21.8 ounces, and 10.9 ounces. The two smaller containers have a promotion for the current Disney (DIS, Fortune 500) movie "Wreck-It Ralph" on the side of the container and the words "Be a Hero" across the bottom. http://money.cnn.com/2012/11/08/news/companies/nestle-nesquik-recall/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

Night Elf
I just bought a big container last week. It says Sept. 2014 on the bottom. I hope that it is safe. Mine too. It's the 'less sugar' type. It's kind of scary though.

suzielou
Seriously?! The nesquick, too?! I got a letter the other day about the 30ct variety cereal from Sam's. Apparently the mini-wheats had mesh particles in them. It is a little late with 4 kids! The kids seem fine, though. :D I thought about going to all organic, but my mother-in-law's natural peanut butter was recalled not too long ago. Is nothing processed safe anymore? LOL
A.Balaban
Ugh need to check on our nesquick in the morning! Thanks For posting. Bumping this. I checked mine this morning and it's Oct 2013. I celebrated with a glass of Nesquik.
Unicorn.
How in the world, does a box of chocolate powdered drink mix get salmonella? (yes I read that it was a supplier of calcium carbonate, but still) :001_huh:
BarbecueMom
Urgh. I'm slurping a homemade iced mocha through a straw right now using *that* Nesquik. Oh well. Maybe I'll mix it with some raw egg for chocolate cookie dough, since I've got nothing to lose now. :tongue_smilie:
TGHEALTHYMOM
After watching FOOD INC. it is not surprising. Still, it is disturbing...:glare:
ravinlunachick
Huh. Our large container (48.7oz from Costco) isn't part of the recall, but my youngest was diagnosed with Salmonella back in September. No one else in family got sick at all, and our local Health Department was stumped as to the source. The best we can guess is that she handled the dog food without us knowing and didn't wash her hands. This stuff is scary. :(
boscopup
Mine from Sam's is Oct. 2014, but thankfully, it's also the 48.7oz container. Phew! Huh. Our large container (48.7oz from Costco) isn't part of the recall, but my youngest was diagnosed with Salmonella back in September. No one else in family got sick at all, and our local Health Department was stumped as to the source. I got a call from the Health Department when my middle son had a stool sample come back positive for salmonella. The funny thing is that he never was sick from that. The doctor didn't even give me the results - he said everything was normal! The HD has to follow up anyway, because it's reportable, and thus I found out about the salmonella from the HD, not the doctor (we no longer use that doctor). :glare: My son could have gotten it from anywhere, and again, he didn't get sick. His stool sample was due to very long term diarrhea issues, and we later realized it was fructose that caused it (so an apple a day did NOT keep the doctor away in his case :tongue_smilie:). The salmonella was a fluke find.
