woolybear
Both my ds have been slow learning to read. My older ds was 10+ before he really read comfortably. We did phonics, mainly using ETC. Then we tried OPGTTR again and just whipped through the parts I thought he needed. In three weeks, he really improved and was reading Magic Tree House. Now I'm on ds #2. He seems to be on a similar time frame. He will be 10 in a few weeks. He does not always know the sounds of letters, blends, etc. I was thinking I should try the fast track OPGTTR with him, though the last time I tried this book with him he hated it. I also thought maybe just to hold out, as I feel like he is right there on the edge of getting it. The most recent idea I had was something remedial. I've been drawn to some of the Memoria Press products, including the reading and literature items. I'm wondering if anyone has opinions on this. I was debating Classical Phonics, First Start Reading, and the Storytime Treasures. Maybe just the Storytime Treasures. Maybe he doesn't need anything at this level and I'm overreacting and drawn in by the pretty covers. Any thoughts?
Mom-ninja.
I have no experience with the materials you mentioned. I used Reading Reflex with both my older boys. One is dyslexic and the other is not. It worked great for both. I followed that with REWARDS reading program. We also use AAS and that reviews what we learned in Reading Reflex and REWARDS.
