creekland Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 5 minutes max. It may have been closer to 2 or 3. We spent more time talking with the poll workers. ;) Oh, and it was a super high turnout in our area - that's what we were talking about. But, we live in a rural township. I was #817 to vote. Hubby was #818. I suppose later today I can add up the results in the paper and see how many voted total in our township. As I wake up this morning I only see one surprise (to me) in our state - not a major office - but I seriously thought people would go with credentials and experience over party. I was wrong. Since it wasn't a major office I seriously doubt many even looked at credentials and experience, but rather, looked at party affiliation when they voted. Our state (and local areas) voted party lines. One could have posted the results based solely upon voting history without the election actually happening. Quote
Laurie4b Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 5 minutes because someone in line ahead of me didn't understand the process and the worker was explaining it to her over and over. If my last name had started with a different letter, it would have been 0 minutes, but they had the lines divided by letters and the poll worker with nobody in line couldn't take those of us waiting behind that voter. learningmama Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 There were only 3 other people in line who were processed quickly. So dh and I got right in. We went at 9:30. Quote
mama2cntrykids Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I didn't wait. I mailed in my ballot as there is no poll-place in our area. Quote
JFSinIL Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Not a moment - the place was full but no line. My newbie 18-yr-old dd got applauded for showing up to vote. Now, a friend who had to vote at the local cc - they had merged SIX precincts into one voting area (lobby of the cc performing arts center) and she had to wait a full hour - the second time she went. First time was up to 3 hour line so she went home until later. Quote
woolybear Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait at all. Not even one person ahead of me. :) Quote
J-rap Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait, except for the extra time it took to visit with the election officials. :) Quote
Dinsfamily Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No line, here. I walked right in to the voting booth. I went the 2nd week of early voting. I heard there were lines the first few days of early voting. Nothing outrageous, just people wanting to be done. There weren't any lines on election day, either. Quote
Karen in CO Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) No wait for me or my dh who voted earlier in the day. But I remember waiting over an hour each time I voted in FL back in the 90's. The lack of wait in CO has always surprised me. Edited November 7, 2012 by Karen in CO Quote
EKS Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No time. Drove up to the ballot drop box about a week ago, stuck the ballot in, and drove away. Quote
Leav97 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Including the 10 min before the polls open, 15 min. Quote
NanceXToo Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 When I walked in there were two voting booth thingies set up and both were occupied. No line, as soon as they were done I was in! Quote
Dmmetler Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 About 30 minutes. I kind of wish I'd waited. The community center that houses DD's dance school is a polling place, and when we were there between 5:00-6:30 last night, there was never a line of more than 2 people! Quote
Jenny in Florida Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Almost two hours, for early voting. Quote
thebarefootamazon Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Only a few minutes. It took longer to get the kids to the bathroom when they randomly decided they had to pee the second we walked into the polling station. ;) Quote
swimmermom3 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No time. Drove up to the ballot drop box about a week ago, stuck the ballot in, and drove away. Yep. Well, I had to stop the car long enough for whichever kid was in the car to run in and drop all of our ballots in the box at the library.:D Quote
Walking-Iris Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No line. Dh and I were the only people in the place besides the election workers at 3 in the afternoon. Something needs to be done about these lines and waits. Quote
CAMom Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I waited about 15 minutes. Then, when I hit "cast ballot" on the voting machine, it had printer problems. So, I had to go through the process again on another machine.:) Quote
