Dustybug Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I didn't. I walked right on in and got checked in immediately. Quote
gardenmom5 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 we switched to absentee a few years back. our state has now switched to vote-by-mail only. (and our gov allowing people to register to vote via facebook *really* inspires confidence in the process. not.) Quote
JenC3 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Voted around 6:30, no line, 5 min in and out:) Quote
mamajag Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I didn't have to wait at all. I went about 2 p.m. Quote
linders Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Just under 2 hours, most of it out in the cold wind. Quote
Violet Crown Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 About 45 minutes, in the heat. After I got to the front of the line, it occurred to the poll workers that, instead of having the line stretch straight away from the doors in the broad sunlight, they could herd everyone next to the building to stand in the shade. Quote
kwickimom Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait! Tiny town, town township :-) Quote
Caroline Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait. I went at 4:00 after I got home from work. Those poll workers seem so happy. Quote
Ohdanigirl Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I walked right in with no wait at all. I only saw one other couple walk in while I was there. Danielle Quote
GWOB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait at all. I went around 9:30am. My town only has about 200 people. Quote
sparrow Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I waited 45 minutes at our small town, township hall this AM. Dh waited 50 minutes in the afternoon. According to our local media it was an "unprecedented turn-out" at the polls. Quote
Joyful Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I waited for about 10 minutes. There were 5 people in line ahead of me. All in all, it went smoothly. Quote
Lily of the Valley Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No line at all. I went about 2:00, and was in and out. Quote
joannqn Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Washington is mail-in ballot only. I spent over four hours going through the voter's pamphlet and voting yesterday. I had no clue what was on the ballot (no broadcast or cable tv so no ads) so I had to go through the whole pamphlet. Dh dropped them off at the local ballot drop box last night. Quote
dirty ethel rackham Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Wow. The longest I had to wait was 2 minutes because one of the voters was an old neighbor of an election judge and they were pretty chatty. I vote in the middle of the day so the people who have to vote around their work schedules can do so more easily. Quote
magnificent_baby Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I went about 9:30. No waiting at all. There were a lot of of people there to vote, but they were very well organized with plenty of volunteers. :001_smile: Quote
JenniferLynn Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I took my 4 YO twins and polling was at their preschool. I walked right in and started. I've never had to wait during the day. Quote
2_girls_mommy Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 oh you don't want to know. I stood for about an hour only to have my turn and be told that they changed the districts and the card I was mailed had the wrong polling site and address listed on it and that I couldn't vote because my precinct had moved (yet it was the same place where I voted in the primaries and I haven't gotten a newer card in the mail with any new address.) and that they thought I should go down the street, but they weren't sure. Went there and that was the wrong precinct. They gave me the election board number to call, but I couldn't get through on my cell. Apparantly they were overloaded on calls because this was an epidemic. Finally called dh and he found me the right place online and got there, and there was NO LINE. I just walked in and voted. Never had a bad experience like that since I started voting. My kids did get to go to Taco Bueno for their free "Rock the Guac" chips and guacamole that they saw the ad for on T.V. w/our I voted stickers. :) So they didn't mind the driving around. Quote
dani3boys Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait for me. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes. Quote
Tutor Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No line at all. I walked right in, voted, and walked out. Of course, I had to walk 1.3 miles to the polling place and back, so from my front door to voting and back to my front door was a total of an hour and five minutes... not including the stop at the coffee shop on my way home. :D (I am very happy that my dh was able to pick up his new-to-us car today.) Quote
midwife Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 walked in, did the action and left. left plate of brownies too Quote
KungFuPanda Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 we switched to absentee a few years back. our state has now switched to vote-by-mail only. (and our gov allowing people to register to vote via facebook *really* inspires confidence in the process. not.) I am scandalized!!!! I went at noon and the line was out the door. I left. I went back at 2:30 and there were only about 15 people there. I gave my info and was handed a paper receipt and a plastic card. I put the card in the machine to activate it and voted via touch screen. I've never seen a paper ballot here. I got my sticker, but it fell off my jacket so my kids accused me of not voting. Quote
Mona100 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait for me but I know in other places in my state had 3 hour waits. Quote
Joker Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I had to wait an hour! It's usually only been a 5-10 minute ordeal for me, but today was different. Quote
Farrar Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 We waited about a minute but only because someone was having an issue with a provisional ballot (or maybe a same-day registration - I'm not sure which). In any case, essentially no wait. I'm glad a lot of people had no wait. Most of my MD friends had an hour wait, which I thought was really long. Quote
ocelotmom Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 10 minutes or so. If I'd had a different last name, I wouldn't have had a wait at all, but for some reason (mainly a charter school 8th grade class that came to following their teacher and have the whole process explained to them) L-M was incredibly busy. Quote
PinkInTheBlue Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 We walked in, voted, and walked out. I was pleasantly surprised. Quote
theYoungerMrsWarde Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait, but dh 10 minutes earlier had a few minutes to wait. We went in the early afternoon. Quote
TheApprentice Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 30 minutes. And that was unusual. Quote
jujsky Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 We waited about 20 minutes, but only because we were in the popular-alphabet-letter line, apparently. None of the other lines had waits. Quote
Stacia Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I voted early (last week). Total time from when I got in line until I was finished was about 1 hour, 45 minutes. Quote
mommymilkies Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 My county accidently purged my info, so I had to fill out an extra form, but overall I was there for a total of 10 minutes, including voting with 5 kids in tow! Quote
Mimm Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 There was one guy in front of me. They said when the poll opened there was quite a line for the first half of the day. My area has lots of polling locations. In fact, mine is only a mile or so away and I pass by another one on my way to my polling location (don't ask me how that works). :) I've never had to stand in a line more than a few people long and it's usually moving slow because whatever technology they are dealing with is being moody. Quote
Lovin Learnin Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No wait at all. In and out in less than 5 min. Quote
Elizabeth in MN Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 There was no line at my polling station. There were also no stickers : ( Quote
Oak Knoll Mom Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 There wasnt a line when i went to vote. Same here. Quote
RemsMom Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I went to vote this afternoon. No wait and I was told they didn't need to see my identification. Quote
AngieW in Texas Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I went at 9am. There was no line at all. Quote
Mrs Mungo Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Washington is mail-in ballot only. I spent over four hours going through the voter's pamphlet and voting yesterday. I had no clue what was on the ballot (no broadcast or cable tv so no ads) so I had to go through the whole pamphlet. Dh dropped them off at the local ballot drop box last night. Ah, true, I did have to look up my state and local questions. Quote
Licoricewhip Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 A great big shout out for Oregon and our vote my mail system. So much more fun to vote at home! Quote
ondreeuh Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I left my house at 7:20 AM and arrived back home at 7:33. It takes me longer to buy milk. I was VERY pleased (despite the fact I live in a state that was called before any votes were counted). Quote
readinmom Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 30 minutes to get the ballot (after being redirected at two other polling places!); apparently the man was having trouble reading the names :smilielol5: I'm serious! Never underestimate the power of reading. Just because you graduated high school doesn't mean you read fluently. Finally one of the ladies came over and grabbed the list out of his hands. When we got to the booth, they were out of pens... By the time we got out and ate dinner, the election had already been called. :001_huh: Quote
LucyStoner Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Zip zilch zero wait. Love mail in. It took me about 30 minutes to vote at kitchen table. I was that long due to discussing things with my 9 yo son. Since I am active in my political party, I am pretty familiar with all the issues and races. Quote
Aelwydd Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Two minutes. There were maybe 3 people in line ahead of me. But this state wasn't a "battleground" state for the general election, with a few local exceptions. Also, there's been early voting for at least a couple of weeks (dh voted maybe two weeks ago). So that cut down the crowds considerably. Quote
tex-mex Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 There wasnt a line when i went to vote. :iagree: Quote
