Anybody work lego mindstorm into their curriculum? I am having trouble stomaching the price of this, even with the multiple gift card I have. If I know a way to justify it as homeschool-educational I might be willing to part with the dollars.

We bought the kit, and have yet to find the time to do anything with it.

I don't really know what to do at the high school level with it.

We do it as ds's 4-H project. You might look into buying the 4-H curriculum. You don't have to be a member to buy it, and it's very reasonably priced. You would want to get Track 3: Robotics Platforms. You can read about it here and order it here.

Ds used it as a semester course in 8th grade. I titled it "Intro to Robotics". I think you could do the same for a high school elective. Dh (the programmer) worked this with ds. I'm not sure what you need to add to get the Intro to Robotics title to be valid for high school, but I do think it could be done.
