MamaBearTeacher
My 8-year old son was lethargic all day yesterday and this morning. He is eating very little which is not like him at all. He slept for many hours yesterday and kept falling asleep when I started reading to him. He just wants to lie on the couch all day and hide under a blanket. He has special needs and can't communicate what is going on with him. When I try to get him to get up to eat, he cries and screams so he has the energy to do that and he did smile a couple of times. He has no fever or cold symptoms. He coughed a couple of times but it didn't really sound like a cough. He is usually extremely hyperactive and I can't leave him in a room by himself for a minute so this is very strange for him. The house is so quiet and I have gotten a ton of chores done, but should I be concerned? DH and DS#3 both have very bad colds but they are not lethargic. Could he be "fighting" the cold, or in the early stages? Is there something I should look out for?

Hopefully, he will just throw it off with a lot of sleep.
Unicorn.
Sounds like the beginnings of a virus maybe? I've had viruses that did almost nothing but knock me out for a couple of days. If you press on his abdomen, does he scream/cry out? If yes, then I would take him in. If not, I would wait it out a bit, and see what develops. Cinder
I have this cold; just getting over it in fact. It's not like a typical cold. Mostly I'm just exhausted and my head hurts. I've had some congestion, but not like a typical head cold. I've only coughed a little bit. My appetite's been decent though there were a number of times I was nauseated, like I might throw up, then it passed. No fever, no general body aches, just the major exhaustion! I don't look sick, I just look tired. And it's been about a week! I can tell I'm getting better--I felt less tired yesterday. I hope your ds feels better soon, but like I mentioned, mine is going on a week and I'm just starting to feel a little better. :grouphug: Oh--and dh had this before I did but his only lasted a few days and then he was fine.
