Teresa in MO
is there anything out there that is 3g that you would not have to purchase a monthly data plan. I need something that you can use facetime with to buy for my dd who lives 24 hours away and is expecting her first baby. We have an Ipad and we love facetime with my 2 granddaughters in Tennessee. I don't want to purchase anything out there though that would require a monthly fee. They do not have Internet in her house, she has to go to the shop building, to access the Internet. Anything out there that would give her access to the internet and facetime?
DawnM
Any internet device without a monthly fee will require wifi. You cannot use facetime without wifi or a data plan. facetime is exclusively an apple program. So, any device will need to be apple based.....ipad, ipod touch, iphone, mac computer. However, if you don't wish to buy a new product, skype can be downloaded to PC devices and apple products, including ipads. But again, you will need data/wifi in order to use it. Mommyof4ks
My iPad has 3G that I can stop and start whenever I wish for as little as $15 for the month I want to use it. Be sure to cancel it prior to the auto renewal date, and there is no penalty or anything, and you can turn it back on whenever you like. My iPad is now my cell phone, so for $30 a month I have all I need, so I keep it on all of the time, but I am not obligated too.
nmoira
I believe T-Mobile has a pay-by-the day plan for tablets.
