Just Kate
My silly book question of the day - I would like to buy ds8 the first Harry Potter book for Christmas. Ds is still reading fairly small books (Magic Treehouse, Ramona, etc.) and has only read paperback books. I am trying to decide whether to buy him the book in hardcover or paperback. Personally, I prefer hardcover because the books last much longer. But I am not sure if at his age a hardcover book may be more difficult to handle. Thoughts? Just Kate
I know it is a silly question, but does anyone have any suggestions? (and yes, I also know that I tend to overthink things...:tongue_smilie:)
ccolopy
For Harry Potter, I would definitely get a hardcover version. We buy mostly paperbacks, but my kids read Harry Potter over and over, so we need hardcovers for the durability. :)
MIch elle
Buy the hardcover USED! There are hundreds of copies of this book in great condition at used library book sales.
MeaganS
I buy almost all of our books hardcover used. I only but paperback if it is cheaper and i expect it to only be read once or twice. Buying used hardbacks in excellent condition often costs less than a new paperback
Arcadia
We buy hardcover if possible for books that are going to be read again and again. If it is going to be read a few times, we tend to just borrow from the library. My boys, 6 & 7, have no problem with hardcover or softcover.
