Joanne
In my new, even more impoverished life, I have been seeking as many frugal altternatives as possible. I googled, and found a "home made Nature's Miracle". The baking soda, dishwashing soap, hydrogen peroxide suggestion works adequately, at a fraction of the Nature's Miracle cost. http://www.ehow.com/way_5592684_recipe-peroxide-pet-urine-odor.html

celticmom
Thank you! It will also be beneficial for those of us who live in relatively rural areas where it can be difficult to find specialty items in the stores.
swellmomma
Thank you. We don't have nature's miracle out here, but peroxide is easy enough to come by. I have a puppy still housebreaking, but more importantly I have a child that is a bedwetter. I wonder if this would work to make his mattress smell good again. ktgrok
keep in mind that peroxide WILL lighten carpet/fabric, just like it does hair. And that in a bad situation you still want nature's miracle, as it will actually remove the urine rather than clean it, if that makes sense.
