Jean in Newcastle
When I'm falling asleep and when I'm waking up (and perhaps while actually asleep but I don't have any way of knowing), I have this burning pain down both arms. Once I"m fully awake, the pain is gone (though I have my constant fibro achiness). Has anyone heard of something like this? I've lived with this for years and years so it's nothing big. My doctor just looked at me when I asked and shook his head because I have these weird symptoms he's never heard of.
JFSinIL
I had the same problem and a couple weeks ago at a check-up I told my doctor. Sher ordered a test - EMG I think it was called - it involved measuring muscle reactions via tiny needles (like in acupuncture) poked in my arms/hands and electricity - anyway, turns out it is one manifestation of....carpel tunnel syndrome. So nothing major. I sleep propped up (only way so far to avoid waking at night with arm pain and/or numbness) - doctor said to sleep with wrist splints on. I'd rather sleep sitting up ;-) although i am now using the splints when I do my free weights. Nothing hurts during the day. I imagine one day my wrists/arms might well hurt. Worry about it when the time comes. Anyway - it is (probably) just carpel tunnel.
