Renthead Mommy
Apparently the issue was not the lack of insulation in the garage, but the lack of common sense in the 10yo! LOL! My 10yo has a loft bed. Apparently when the heat finally kicked on last week, just as it started to get really cold, he asked a taller friend to close the vent. So the reason his room was so cold was there was no heat going in it! When I asked why he turned off his heat he said it blew on his face and head and was too warm. (He has a loft bed and the vent is in the ceiling.) He said he would rather be cold than have it blow on his face. Apparently it did not occur to him to just sleep with his head at the other end! Duh!

Laura Corin
I once took Calvin to the eye doctor because he kept on squinting. This was difficult and inconvenient because we were living in China and the doctor was in Thailand. Doctor could find nothing wrong. After the appointment, I asked Calvin why he was squinting (I hadn't wanted to ask him before because I didn't want to make him self-conscious). 'When you scrunch up your eyes and look at a light, it goes all sparkly.' Lesson learned: just ask the kid! Laura
