Mommy22alyns
I'm making some dishcloths with 4 different colors in random stripes. Am I supposed to carry everything up the sides or cut them off and have lots of ends to weave in?
warneral
Twist them when you switch colors, carrying up 1 side
amey311
It depends. If there are LONG gaps between the colors, it can get hard to deal with them, in which case cutting makes more sense. I've done AABBAABBAABB without cutting. I'd possibly even do AABBCCAABBCC (the main problem being that now there are TWO colors to carry up the side rather than just one). AAAABBBBAAAABBBB might be too much, depending on the thickness of your yarn, and IMO AAAABBBBCCCC is definitely too much - that's carrying A up 8 rows. Is it a dishcloth for you, or a gift? If it's for you, you could just try it and see how you like it.
Mommy22alyns
They're for me. The spacing goes from 1-2 rows to 6-8 rows. Plus there's the three other colors I'm not using ATM. Yeah, it looks like I'll be cutting. Oh well, they're cute dishcloths!

Mommy22alyns
http://knitfreedom.com/knitting-basics/change-colors-knitting-stripes also: what pattern is it? maybe i need one :) I tried to find it online, but I couldn't. It was a free pattern from Michaels using Martha Stewart cotton hemp yarn. Off-white, bright red, seafoam green, and light blue. Wait, wait, wait!! Cinder
Wait, wait, wait!! Here it is: http://marthastewart.lionbrand.com/patterns/L10188B.html Looks like you might be able to carry the white up the sides but definitely not the colors. Be aware that you won't get a clean edge if you do carry the white. IOW instead of having a bit of red edge for the red stripe, the edge will be covered by a strand of white.
