Since we're on a baby name kick....

Recommended Posts

I'm sure I will post more as the time gets closer but I wanted to join in on the baby naming fun with a burning question........should we stick with the alphabetical trend we have going on here?

Our kids are:

Audriana (Audri)

Carter

Elijah

Nathan

Samuel

Tadhgan (pronounced Ty-gan)

 No we did not mean to do it that way but now how can we not stick with it? Unfortunately, we skipped quite a few letters between "E" and "N"

Suggestions are welcome too.

Thank you for the suggestions. Do you think it's important that we stay with the alphabetical trend? I keep telling dh what if we start back over at "A"? Even if we don't have anymore after this, that'd be kindof cool to book-end with As. Also, our last name begins with A. WDYT?

Oh I say if it's a girl for SURE an A. Then both girls are a's, the youngest and eldest. And for a boy it is still a good idea.

I have a friend with 6 girls. #1 starts with A and on through the alphabet, with #5 starting with Z. #6 is a J. Obviously they ran out of letters before they were through having babies!

But I only know this because she told me. Not too many people go around figuring out patterns to how other people's children are named--just pick one you like!

I wouldn't worry about continuing down the alphabet. But if you want suggestions:

girls:

Unity

Victoria/Vivianne/Veronica

Wendy/Wainwright/Willa/Willow/Winter

Xara (it is a form of Sara)/Yvette/Yvonne

Zara/Ziva

boys:

Ulf/Upton

Vaughan/Vincent

Wayne/Warrick/Wythe

Xavier (might be too common)

Yves

Zale

(coming up with boy names with those letters are hard.)

If you hadn't pointed out the order, I never would have noticed they were in alphabetical order. So unless that was deliberate, then I see no reason why you need to continue the trend.

My last 4 children have C names. Everyone assumes this one will too. Except we never intended to have so many C names and have no intention of naming this one with a C. I don't have to live up to someone else's expectation when picking names.

Since you have so much space between E and N, and then N and S, I really don't see a trend. Now, if you had done A, B, C, D...... but no, not important.

I think I'd have to comtinue the "trend" once I noticed it, however unintentional it was. But then, I tried to keep to some symmetry (of sorts) that I had with kids 1 and 2 when thinking of names for #3 - ds and dd both had five-letter names, both had different beginning and ending sounds, and then ds had a 1-syllable name and dd1 had a 2-syllable name, so I tried to find a name that was consistent with that. Lydia was the perfect name, under these "criteria", but dh didn't like it much.

What about Violet, Verity, Victoria, Vivian, Willow, Winter, Wren, Xanthe, Xenia, Yen or Yin, Ysabel, Zara, Zinnia, Zoe, or Zofia for a girl; or Van, Vance, Victor, Wade, Walker, Wallace, Warren, Wolf, Xavier, Yeager, York, Zachary/Zachary, or Zander for a boy?

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm sure nobody would notice it if I didn't mention it but now it bugs ME.

This is my problem, I think it's my OCD. :tongue_smilie: Great names!

I don't think you would have to stick with the trend, as it is not an obvious one. Although some of my favorite girl names would work. I LOVE Violet, Willow, Wren, and Winter. Or Vivienne. Willa is nice, too.

Pretty!
