NavyMommy
I am going to be USELESS tomorrow!! It's already 2:30 here and I'm still wide awake with no sleep on the horizon. We just moved into a new house and there's this tree right outside the master bedroom I'm worried about. It's a big, strong, beautiful, healthy tree, but having just moved here and being a worrier I can see it coming right into my room. Lots of rain here the past 2 days or so and the ground is saturated. While the wind isn't bad it's gusty so every time it picks up I jump. Plus all the other little noises the house makes settling in the wind and it's going to be a short night and a long day :( My kids are up at 7 no matter what! Please everyone stay safe out there!! NavyMommy
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I hope you'll be able to get some sleep soon!!! Thanks! I suppose getting out of the kitchen and into the bedroom would help too. I keep telling myself 5 more minutes, but I haven't heard any big gusts in awhile. Maybe I'll chance it. JFSinIL
Before it was taken down (city tree department checked it and confirmed it NEEDED to be cut down) a 100-year-old tree on the street was poised to crash through the roof of my youngest dd's bedroom if it fell. Since we had already had the tree next to this one fall - and hit our house!!! - we knew it could happen, so dd spent every windy night sleeping downstairs until the tree was removed. Which isn't comforting to hear - but better safe than sorry. Don't sleep in your bedroom tonight. Get the tree checked out and trimmed, if needed, once the storm is over and the tree folks have the time.
hillfarm
Remove any irreplaceable values (family photos, sentimental items) from your roomand relocate to another, safer room during the storm. You will need the rest. Studies have shown that people make poor decisions and are much less resilient if sleep deprived. This looks like it will be of a somewhat long duration. So relocated the important stuff, say a prayer, and get some sleep!
