JumpyTheFrog
I'm tired of using disposable roasting pans for cooking turkeys. Sould I get a big roasting pan or an electric roaster that sits on the counter?
KatieJ
I have cooked turkey in an electric roaster many times. I prefer the oven. It doens't get a nice crispy skin in the roaster. But it works and it frees up the oven for other dishes. Can you borrow one from a friend and try it out before you buy one?
Susan C.
I got a cheap stainless steal turkey roasting pan for under $20. It works great!
KungFuPanda
I roast mine in my lasagna pan. :D
kitten18
I LOVE my electric roaster. I don't know how I would cook all the other holiday food if I had a big turkey in my oven. Electric roasters are really cheap now, Walmart always has them for under $30. True, they don't make the most beautiful bird, but we're a carve it in the kitchen kind of family.:tongue_smilie:
LucyStoner
I love the electric roaster but I usually use it for the prime rib while the oven is used for other things. Brown it in a pan on the stovetop and then transfer to roasting pan. Friends usually bring a turkey with them. My nex house will have double wall ovens if I can possibly manage it! Spy Car
Nothing beats a heavy roasting pan with a rack. The rack allows hot dry air to circulate around the bird, so it roasts. Lacking a real rack, one can approximate one by making "rolls" out of foil. Bill
regentrude
I roast mine in a roasting pan in the oven. Cleaning the pan is really no big deal.
