mama2cntrykids
Ok, I'm still going back/forth about what kind of tablet to get. I have a question though...say that I get a Kindle Fire (just as an example)...would apps for an ipad work on it? Or do I have to stick with the apps that particular company puts out? Sorry if this is a silly question. I honestly know nothing about this stuff, but we really want some kind of tablet and I want to cover my bases BEFORE we purchase! Thanks! ETA: We wouldn't be getting anything for a few months as we'd have to wait for taxes in February. Mommy22alyns
No, I believe that apps for i-things and apps for Android-based things are different. I just got a Fire for Sylvia and I'm figuring out how to navigate it now.

So, I take it a Fire is android and an ipad is obviously an "i-thing"? I feel like I am speaking another language:tongue_smilie:. TexasRachel
An iPad will only run apple apps. Most other tablets run android. (Is there anything else out there?) we have iPads and love them so I've never looked at what else there is. My understanding is the android store is now almost as good as thre apple store is. The Fires run a forked version of Android, and can only access the Amazon app market. Few products competing directly with Amazon's offerings are allowed in Amazon's market. The Netflix app is the one that comes to mind.

mama2cntrykids
Ok, another question...if I get an android phone (net10-prepaid), would I be able to put android apps on it?
nmoira
Ok, another question...if I get an android phone (net10-prepaid), would I be able to put android apps on it?You mean from Amazon?Yes, if they are compatible with the phone. You would first have to load the Amazon Appstore app. There are instructions at Amazon to accomplish this. The vast majority of Android phones sold have access to the Google Play app store. ETA: Apps purchased anywhere other than Amazon could not be put on the Kindle Fire.
