Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
is there a way to send things without it costing a small fortune? I just sent ds(S. Korea) a package for his bday and almost fainted when given the total. It wasn't a big package either, just a few shirts and some art supplies. I want to send him more during the upcoming year but financially I cannot buy the stuff AND afford to send it.
Mrs Mungo
Does he have an APO/FPO address? Because those packages only go to NY, CA or FL and the military takes them the rest of the way. It is MUCH cheaper than shipping internationally. Try to fit everything in large priority flat rate boxes. A couple of flat rate boxes will be cheaper than one giant box. NavyMommy
If they have an APO / FPO address you can use that. The post office even has new large flat rate boxes that ship for cheaper ($14.95 IIRC) to those addresses and best of all the boxes / tape / ect are free. Next time I will get a flat rate box, that will help.

mommytobees
I think you've found your answer, but just to reiterate.... When we lived in Japan the most cost effective AND timely way to ship something was a flat rate Priority box to our FPO address. Out of the 3 years we lived there I lost a total of 1 Priority box and 7 NOT-Priority boxes. I could order from Amazon (always shipped priority) and it would get to me 7 business days later. You _might_ be able to save money by shipping slow-boat via China shipping rate, but it isn't worth it over the long run. Kris

airforcefamily
Flat rate priority boxes - even if you have to use more than one it's the least expensive way to ship to Korea.
