sweetbasil
Is there any way to find out why? I googled and did a search of their crummy forums and they were totally useless. Not to mention their forums looked straight out of a Prodigy bulletin board circa 1992. Maybe worse. FWIW my listing was a piece of nice (brand name) jewelry, new (received it as a gift). So basically, if I want to solicit an "encounter" with a total stranger, that's cool, but my poor jewelry is offensive to someone. And that someone can flag my post and have it removed and I will a) not be told that it's been removed and b) not be told why. I hate CL. I really do. Hockey Mom
I don't know if it's because I'm tired or because I know exactly what you mean by their forums, but your post made me laugh out loud. I would just post it again. It may have been posted in the wrong section. For some reason, random people feel it's their 'Craigslist Duty' to troll every section of CL and flag misplaced posts. It's annoying. Joshin
There's also people that scam. They flag you, hope you don't notice the post is gone, then they make a lowball offer a week or two later. They hope you are bummed at no offers and willing to accept their ridiculous offer. There are also people that are selling something similar, so they go through and flag everyone selling something similar. :glare:
Jpoy85
I thought CL emailed you that you were flagged? Id just re-post it.
creekland
I had a person flagging my ponies for sale ad. I simply reposted. That flagged it three times and I reposted every single time as quickly after the flagging as I could. After third time I put this statement up top: "Sorry for reposting this again so soon after just posting it, but someone needlessly flagged it (three times now - I suppose they are doing us a favor by ensuring our ad is always at or near the top!), so... as long as they keep flagging, I'll keep posting (fortunately Craigslist makes it easy to repost). There's nothing in this ad that goes against Craigslist rules nor are these ponies bought and sold (aka dealer)... We are owners who breed, raise, and sell and many of our buyers come from Craigslist." The flagging stopped. It IS easy to repost. Get on your account, pull up the old ad, open a new browser to start a new ad, then cut and paste. The only thing you have to actually do is repost the pics. I agree with the others that there are simply people who get their jollies from flagging and others who feel you are "the competition" or who are trying to scam you. "My" flagger was likely a competition one since they quit when I reminded them they were ensuring my ad would stay at the top due to them. ;)
DawnM
I accidentally flagged someone before. I was trying to report that there was no way to get a hold of the person. The link wasn't working (came back to me) and there was no phone number. I hit the wrong button and there was no way to take it back. justasque
Could it be a concern about fake name-brand items? I know this happens on eBay with jewelry and purses and some high-end clothing brands. Perhaps when you repost you could explain how you know the item is genuine (where it was purchased, etc.), and that you aren't a dealer-type seller. Perry
I accidentally flagged someone before. I was trying to report that there was no way to get a hold of the person. The link wasn't working (came back to me) and there was no phone number. I hit the wrong button and there was no way to take it back. Dawn I've done this too. Just repost the ad. It was probably a mistake.
vonfirmath
At least around here, it requires more than one flag to remove an ad.
