Peplophoros
Baby up at 4:30, screaming now because he needs to nap and will not, 2 year old creating too many disasters to list, and my mom's in town "observing" school day, which I'm sure she thought would be all sunshine and flowers and field trips to the zoo. I give up on Mondays. I GIVE UP.
mom31257
I'm so sorry!:grouphug: Having your mom in town will add so much more pressure! I pray that it gets better.
Stratford
:grouphug: I hate Mondays, too. And anytime we have a "visitor", things go crazy. Hope Tuesday is a better day!
Peplophoros
Sorry, this should have been on the general board. Mondays!
ErinE
I agree with PP, visitors don't work for our school day. My ILs probably think my children spend every day writhing on the floor instead of doing work. Good luck and I hope tomorrow is better. Pink and Green Mom
My mom is here for a visit and school goes right out the window so I feel your pain. And Mondays in general do not help. When my mom is here I try to just do the basics - a math lesson, a writing lesson, and then let the kids read aloud one chapter of their reading book to Grandma so she can oooh and aaah. blakereese
:grouphug: I feel your pain. We have made Mondays our light day, due to the usual Monday craziness. We also have several activities on Monday. So we start a bit late, relax a lot on the couch with books and math, and have a long quiet time in the afternoon. I hope your day gets better. Maybe your mom can help a bit with the tired baby or crazy toddler? So YOU can get a nap!!
ladydusk
Mondays are by far our most difficult day, but if we get through it well, the rest of the week is usually great. I think it is because our weekends are often long and busy and out of routine. No quiet times, often. And, frankly, getting started back up is hard. So, we instituted "Project Day" we work on our content areas and catch up on reading history and science. We save projects and videos for Monday (watched about Volcanos today). We do our history map work. And generally work together for the day. Tomorrow we'll do math and grammar and writing, but Mondays are slower. ELITEANDLOVINGIT
We agree with Mondays being crazy. This week I have established Mondays as Cinnamon Roll Day; pretty straight forward concept we have Cinnamon Rolls in our otherwise mostly unsugary household. I would like to say that I make these delectable treats from scratch...but we don't. We pop them out of the Immaculate Baking Company's tin and into our oven. Seemed to work this morning for us...I'll let you know about next ;o) Otherwise Mondays we hit the ground running and I remind all we have had a whole weekend to relax... Mommy22alyns
Yeah, visitors = no work accomplished. :glare:
laundrycrisis
I don't do any school when there are visitors, unless they agree to leave the room with one kid while I work with the other. If that's not in the cards, a visitor means we still go out for our scheduled activities, but don't get schoolwork done at home. I hope your week gets better. Mystie
Monday craziness and the housework & laundry usually behind because of the weekend is why we started not doing school on Mondays instead of Fridays. We school 4 days a week and Monday is our errands & housecleaning day.
Hunter
I loved Mondays. It was the weekends that were hell at my house. I was just talking to someone by PM that also likes Monday better than the weekend. I guess Monday is a comparison to the weekend and depending on how the weekend goes, that influences what Monday will be like.
