DawnM
Prune juice. I also find dried fruit to help, but not in the time frame your "friend" needs it! ;)
PeterPan
http://www.energybalancing.com/selfeval/ileocecal.html She can massage her ileocecal valve (to open the door to let the poop out, it compacts against it) and the rest of her abdomen, have a large glass of hot water, hot lemon juice, or hot tea, and it should happen within a couple hours. Soror
what is meant by "lots"? I have a magnesium powder to put in water...is that what you mean?? I think I'd start with about 800mg, it would vary person to person.
kfeusse
is that total...and how long does she wait to know if it has worked or not?? and if not, then another 800mg? or what...sorry I am so dumb on this.
redheadmom
Aloe is a laxative. Also you can make a tea out of dried parsley (the kind found in the spice section) and it is a gentle laxative.
kitten18
Is she getting on an airplane tomorrow??? If so, I would not do anything too drastic. There is really no telling how long it will take for things to go into effect or how long the 'cleaning' might last. Being on an airplane would be a NIGHTMARE. I would suggest trying a glycerin suppository.
Moxie
Our ped. suggests Karo corn syrup in water for constipated kiddos. Lots of water.

elfgivas
here, we use psyllium, or pureed plums. psyllium takes longer, but is less drastic. fwiw, ann

For the quickest and most predictable solution with fewest side effects, I'd recommend a saline enema.

Or she could try a cup of coffee and a cigarette. :001_huh:

I can't imagine dealing with that during air travel :svengo: Regardless, I hope she gets some relief somehow.
