joysworld
We are doing the SOTW 1 lapbook and the kids LOVE it!! I was wondering if anyone has tried to do something similar with BFSU? I would like the lapbook to encompass everything we learn from BFSU, and not just a lapbook per topic. I'm guessing I would have to do my own, but I have no clue how to do that. And thoughts or suggestions?
Miss Tick
Lapbooking for BFSU might be tricky. I love the SOTW1 lapbooks we did, and the kids often pull them out to show guests or just flip through them. For BFSU we do a "notebook" page for each lesson - we talk about summary points for the bottom of the page and then they draw a picture to illustrate the lesson (very open to interpretation). These go into a 3-ring binder. They go through this sometimes just for interest. However, the topics are sometimes so big and diverse.... I'm sure you could do it if you wanted to spend the time.... Hmmmm, interesting thought, though! Keep us informed about what you decide to do!
kirstenhill
I had thought about that too for a while with BFSU, but it was overwhelming to find pre-made pieces to correspond with the topics. I have had better luck with finding regualar notebook paper size printables on various topics - check out the BFSU Pinterest boards linked in my signature - there are ideas there for a few of the lessons, anyway! Incognito
We've only done a couple so far, but doing the mini-books out of one sheet of paper each has been fun for my kids (who are also LOVING the SOTW lapbook stuff... which we are doing in a binder intermingled with the SOTW coloring pages and other things my kids find that relate :)). Where do you get the ideas for the mini books? They don't like coloring sheets, and I tried note booking pages, and they didn't like that either. But they LOVE lapbooking. Incognito
Hmm... somewhere in the intro he talks about them. You make them out of one notebook page. If you look on kirsten's pinterest board... here is a link to the pin showing how you do it. https://pinterest.com/pin/99079260523098718/ If you mean ideas of what to write on them, we do the thread # on the front (BFSU A-2, for example). Then for that one we used the pages so it was 3 pages inside and the back cover (so each page is a double page spread). For A-2 it was solid on one page, then liquid, then gas. On the back cover we wrote "states of matter", the vocab word that wasn't covered inside yet. We put stickers of things that are solid, liquid or gas on the pages (from the random stickers we have - we had to get a little creative). Solids are easy, then for liquids we had a couple but we also used a teacup to show a drink, they drew a fish tank around some fish stickers to be water, etc. For gas we did a flower (the scent), balloons, a whistle, an airplane flying through air... You get the idea. Some of it was a bit of a stretch, but the kids got it. HTH
