justamouse
I have a friend who has put together a *fantastic* nature/history/science study that is very local to us. Be jealous, be very, very jealous. ;) It is so amazing I actually saw her car at the neighbors and ran outside to tell her how awesome it is. She's a natural teacher. A parent would have to buy the downloadable guide, go to the site, and walk through the 'class'. It would be a whole day affair, almost like a guided archeological/nature study tour of this one area, pack a lunch, grab a nature notebook and go. Because it's so local, how should she go about advertising it? (apart from local papers and such). I'm not a part of any local homeschool groups--is it a no no to advertise this in settings like that? Do you have a group and how do you tell eachother/advertise stuff like this? (she is making more, for area lakes, state park areas, different environmental studies, so this would be ongoing)
Julie Smith
One of our local homeschool groups has a monthly newsletter. If you have something homeschool related you can write up an add or article and it can be put in for free.

Tutor
Our local homeschool group has an online message board with a sale and swap section. Also, she could contact a local museum, library, or nature group and offer to do a class based on one of her studies where she can provide info on ordering more. Farrar
Our local listservs allow people to post classes and workshops they're offering along with everything else. Oftentimes people will get someone else (like you) to do it for them, but not always.
thescrappyhomeschooler
One homeschool mom around here started a meet up calendar on meetup.com. Anyone can post any homeschool activities to it and send out the link to the local yahoo groups. It seems to work well.

Jayne J
You might also have her check the areas themselves--it there a website for the lake, or an organization that protects the areas? They might be willing to advertise her program as a way to encourage visitors.
Dmmetler
Ask homeschool board moderators. We have a section on our board specifically for such things, and would be THRILLED to list it.
Candid
As a regional list owner, I would strongly suggest she ask each list owner, group, etc. how they would like to handle this. Lists vary on stuff like this; best to ask and not get on the wrong side of someone for something silly.
