Mama Geek
Arthur Conan Doyle - Sherlock Holmes Edgar Allen Poe Charles Dickens - Oliver Twist Mark Twain - The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Jules Verne - Journey to the Center of the Earth Daniel Defoe - Robinson Crusoe Robert Louis Stevenson - Treasure Island Ambrose Bierce Poe and Bierce are kinda scary in a twisted way. The others are more action adventure type books. Most of them I have read within the last year.

Chris in VA
What classics can you recommend that would fall into the category of scary, suspenseful, or action packed? Thanks! Coraline, hands down the scariest/creepiest book we ever read aloud. The Matchlock Gun has scary/dangerfilled moments, too (bad guys get shot, Mom gets knifed, I think). OnTheBrink
I loved Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Mysterious Island. I loved any Sherlock Holmes novels, too.
