CatholicMom
I'm thinking a workbook, but I will also consider games, CDs, whatever. :) My 8 & 9 yr olds need to learn about the states, US geography, landmarks, trivia. Not necessarily looking for a full US History curriculum, though.

Another Lynn
Memoria Press has a State Study that's worth considering, imho.
thowell
For us the Charlotte Mason way worked best. We simply start with a blank USA map. I let the kids study a map for 10 minutes then they turn them over and try to fill in as many states as they can in a certain amount of time say 15 minutes. When they are finished we go over them and then they use a different color and fill in the ones they did not know. We did this everyday until they could fill them all in by memory. Then we started doing the same thing but using the abbreviations. Now they are adding the state capitals. It has worked better than anything I have found and takes very little time each day. Oh, we also play Seterra a couple of times a week. They love that!
