abidnginhim
I understand that most people move on to Singapore after finishing Miquon or use them along side each other from the beginning but if I would rather not use Singapore would MEP be a good alternative? Would it be a fairly easy transition? I am doing MEP Reception now with my 4 and 5 yo so I have been looking at the higher levels. My older dd is finishing up Miquon and will need to move to another math program.

The Lesson Plans will help you keep up a "Math Lab" approach, and the student pages keep the interest high because they are so interesting. I was very torn about going with Singapore or MEP when I finally decided we could not do it all. It is something I still agonize about. But MEP is very cool. Zoo Keeper
MEP meshes nicely with Miquon; the MEP lesson plans encourage the use of number strips or c-rods in teaching many of the concepts in Year One and Year Two. There is drill and other "normal" aspects of a traditional math program, but MEP also has lots of very cool puzzles and it requires the student to *think and apply* what they have learned. I also love how MEP stresses relationships between numbers and concepts. Good stuff. :001_smile:
