Impish
Would it be wrong to...uh...sample the scalloped potatoes I made for tomorrows dinner? You know...just to make sure it's cooked right...(Not at all to do w/not wanting to cook anything for myself to eat tonight at all...nope, not at all...) kewb
Absolutely not. It is a moral responsibility to taste it before you serve it to guests. And then don't forget the important evening it out step. You can't serve something crooked.
justLisa
Take a fork, stick it in the middle, twist while you scoop a little. No one will ever know. I learned this from Paula Deen
Pegasus
Not wrong at all! I actually made scalloped potatoes tonight too! I told DH that a thread on these message boards made me crave them. :tongue_smilie:

sheryl
:lol::lol: When I have to "make sure" ;) something turned out OK (a day or 2 before), I'll move in to the target, dip in, and "rearrange" the contents. :D

Annie G
No guests? Go for it! A big serving to make SURE they're fit for family consumption.
blakereese
It would be wrong NOT to sample them. A few times. :D
Catwoman
*wonders how to rearrange scalloped potatoes...* 1. Remove scalloped potatoes from current large dish. 2. Eat some. 3. Put remaining scalloped potatoes in smaller dish. 4. Practice "innocent face" to use while serving scalloped potatoes tomorrow.
justLisa
Um...I'm kinda hungry. Not a 'morsel on a fork' kinda hungry...And we have no guests, just us. Oh well in that case eat as much as you want. Just count the scoops. Make sure there is one for everyone and the rest is yours. Hmmm unless you have a spatula or scoop big enough to scoop them all into a smaller container without disturbing much
Impish
good thing I checked. They're still watery. Bah.

Impish
Guess you'll have to eat out tonight. :D Not an option, unfortunately. Nearest place to eat out is over 20 min drive. And no delivery either. Not so happy. *sulk*
justLisa
Maybe you can scoop a bit out an nuke 'em. The rest will spread and no one will notice.
DB in NJ
good thing I checked. They're still watery. Bah. Oh that's too bad. Desert Rat
You didn't double the recipe to anticipate just this probability? Next time you will remember to do so. (Yes. You must eat some potatoes!) ;)

Audrey
There wouldn't be enough to sample. You only made and 8x8 pan of them. Yes. Only an 8x8. Not a 9x13 nibbled down to an 8x8. Not at all.
KrissiK
Absolutely not. It is a moral responsibility to taste it before you serve it to guests. And then don't forget the important evening it out step. You can't serve something crooked. It's morally imperative. You would be a bad person is you served something unsampled, that could possibly be an inferior product. And you don't want to be a bad person, now, do you?:D
