Word Nerd
It's the beginning of fall and it isn't even that cold yet, but my toes are already freezing! What brands or types of socks do you love that keep your feet warm?
KatieJ
I found some socks at Costco last year that I truly love! KBell Marino wool socks. They are not itchy, and fit on my foot nicely so I can wear my Boston Birks easily. At costco they come in packs of two. One pair is striped and the other is solid with a different color toe. Not cheap tho. I have also found them on Amazon and Ebay.
justLisa
I wear very thick wool trecking socks and have 3 pairs of Timberland tall winter boots. I am prone to be absolutely freezing at the slightest chill
Lara in Colo
for me it has less to do with the thickness of the sock and more to do with how lose the top is. If it is too tight, it blocks the blood flow and my feet are cold. I switched to diabetic socks and my feet are so much warmer
AK_Mom4
Wool-blend socks from Carharts. I like the knee socks because they are a bit tight thru the calf, but not tight at the top- good for my circulation. They come in awesome color combos like navy-pink stripes and light blue with yellow spots.
justasque
Anything fleece or wool. You can find them in hiking stores, and sometimes at Marshalls although I've not had as much luck lately as in the past. Campmor.com is another option; they often feature last year's designs. (As if your socks had to be up-to-the-minute fashionable!) You can also knit some - well, some folks can anyway! They aren't cheap, but if they are of quality they should wear well. Acorn Island
My favorite socks are 'Smartwool' brand. You can find them online or in sporting good stores. They are wool, but they are washable, and they are very soft. Not like the normal scratchy wool socks...which my feet do not like. Like another poster said, try to find some that aren't too tight around the tops!
delaney
Life is good makes really soft and cozy socks. My mom also got me these really soft socks made by Woolrich one year(not wool though)
Kareni
My favorite socks are 'Smartwool' brand. I like these, too. Regards, Kareni
hana
I also wear Smartwool.
Beth in OH
Add a pair of silk sock liners under any pair of socks. I love them!
DarlaS
Wigwam hiking socks. The inside is like the soft fluffy loopy side of a new towel and it stays that way a long time. I wash them with my regular laundry, but I do try to let them air dry as wool will last longer that way.
SunnyDays
We love "fuzzy socks" for at home lounging. This is one of my favorite types: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/zbrandskiosk/handbagsaccessories/sonoma/womens/PRD~1189197/SONOMA+life+and+style+2pk+SpaceDyed+Slipper+Socks.jsp Seriously, they feel so good on your feet and they're very warm. Not so much for wearing out and about with shoes, though. :)
Desert Rat
I wear two pair at home. I wear just a regular sport sock covered with a fuzzy sock that's very popular.
HeidiKC
Thick, fuzzy fleece socks! They are cotton, I think, and very lightweight. But incrediby warm. I think they'd be too thick with shoes, but I wear them to bed and around the house with slippers. My feet even get hot with them on sometimes. I think I got some pairs at Costco, and then some just at CVS or other pharmacy.
Celia
I put my feet in my armpits or under my bum to keep them warm, and it has the added benefit of keeping me flexible. :)
