Susan Wise Bauer
Folks, We're playing around with some new titles for our users, so you may see your designation (i.e., "Queen Bee") shift without warning. Stay tuned-- SWB
Amy loves Bud
But, but... I like being a Queen Bee!
*anj*
And I like being "Practically SWB"!:lol::lol:
Amy loves Bud
But wow! A Beekeeping Professor - that's pretty cool. SWB is a Beekeeping Professor, so technically, you are still "Practically SWB"! Maybe I'll get to be an Empress Bee. I could live with that. :smilielol5:

They changed it really quickly, because when I posted it still said "Practically SWB." :smilielol5:
beansprouts
I have never cared for the "Practically SWB" title. For one thing SWB has less than 200 posts, but to earn the title one must have 2000 posts. I suppose to be truly like SWB, one must spend less time on the boards and more time actually homeschooling. I'm not sure I am up to that. Besides, while I respect and admire SWB and greatly appreciate the guidance, resources and vision she has provided through her books, I do not aspire to be her. I want to find my own unique style and flavor when homeschooling my children. I want to be myself. I also tend to think way too much sometimes. :tongue_smilie:
*anj*
I also tend to think way too much sometimes. :tongue_smilie: Yeah, methinks this is one of those "overthinking it" times, Cindy!:lol::lol:

Mom to Aly
Ooh, I never finished my dissertation for my phd, if I ever get to beekeeping professor, can I call myself "doctor"?
Susan Wise Bauer
Besides, while I respect and admire SWB and greatly appreciate the guidance, resources and vision she has provided through her books, I do not aspire to be her. I want to find my own unique style and flavor when homeschooling my children. I want to be myself. Yeah...I don't really care for it either. It was always tongue in cheek--we honestly didn't think anyone would get there for months and months and months, and then maybe only a FEW people would get it and enjoy the joke. I like Empress Bee. If anyone else has suggestions....post 'em! S
Emmy
On a popular scrapbooking board they allow users to choose their own title when they reach 5000 posts. It's a bit milestone for the people that get there and they all seem to enjoy thinking of a really clever title that reflects their own personality and board presence. Just a thought. Kathleen in VA
I've always thought "Killer Bee" would be a fun title, as killer can have positive connotations. Then again, it might be taken the wrong way. Just seems a shame not to use it since it is a kind of bee:).

Although maybe do it lower than 5,000....it's taken me 4 years to get 4000 over there....this board will take me forever too

Mom2legomaniacs
I don't care for the practically SWB title either. I am so far from being SWB that it just made me feel inadequate. I know it was a funny and tongue-in-cheek. But I like the Empress Bee. Makes me feel regal! Thanks for the tweaks.

Then you could use it only on days when people need to tread lightly. 'Cuz I gotta say that there are days when I'd proudly be that Bee! ;)

LOL! Just kidding...(something along the lines of "Once a Queen Bee, Now a Wannabe." Blessings, Camy The designations are tied to numbers of posts not to rep. So, you, my dear, just have to start posting about everything. "So, which do you think is better?...Should I run screaming from the house or just wait for the guys in white suits to get here?" "Hi, it's Camy....I just blew my nose. That is all." "Is it okay to use....eight squares of paper instead of just six?" "Dang!....I just tripped over Sam again on my way to the recipe file. Can I please paint this little guy neon yellow?" Doran, that was hilarious! SUGGESTION (see I'm being a good girl!): How about an early stage being "Babee"? :) Then the next stage could be Buzzy Bee (you know how when you're little adults go, "Here comes the Buzzy Bee..." Kareni
Sadly, benighted would not work for men or women! It had such a nice ring to it though. Benighted: intellectually or morally ignorant (from Dictionary.com) But Bee Knighted might work. And what about bee-kini? rockermom
I suppose the SWBee would be pretty irritated if we turned this into another chat thread... It almost seems to be going in that direction, doesn't it? Anyway, back on topic: I wish I could be a Wallabee. :) We could have different life paths to choose from in the ranking system (I'm talking about some hacking of the php here, but what the hay!) Occupations: carpenter bees (could also fall under the musician category) plasterer bees leafcutter bees mason bees If you want to add temporary labels to those who are behaving less than nicely, you could go with some wasp titles. Some of my personal favorites overall, though: Gypsy Cuckoo Bee Early Humble Bee Daisy Carpenter Bee Poppy Mason Bee Shaggy Mining Bee Hairy-horned Ichneumon. I must add that IRL I am deathly afraid of bees and other stinging (even though I know some don't sting) insects. :scared:
