Penelope
Anyone have good suggestions for this age? Especially for those just entering logic stage. ;) We enjoyed "The Necklace" in WWS, and that reminded me how I began to love short stories at this age. We read "The Ransom of Red Chief", and "The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County". :D Oh, and "Gift of the Magi." Short stories are such a great way for discussing literary analysis, especially for a mom who is short on reading time! :tongue_smilie: I found this list: http://fiction.eserver.org/short/ Edited October 3, 2012 by Penelope
happyhomemaker
Sherlock Holmes would be good for that age. Maybe some of Poe's short stories too.
tiffany k
My ds11 checked out The Chronicles of Harris Burdick last week. It compiles 14 stories by different authors, each based on one of Burdick's drawings. He found it interesting.

happyhomemaker
What about Stockton's The Lady or the Tiger? :iagree: I remembering liking this one in middle school. We also read "Flowers for Algernon" which was sad, but good.
