MegP
Can anyone tell me more about "Interactive Metronome?" Do you have to do this program with an OT, or can you do it yourself at home? Is it effective?
crazyfordlr
We did IM about 1.5 yrs ago. While I wasn't sure if it would do any good, I trusted our educational therapist's recommendation to do it. It really helped! I mean it wasn't a miracle or anything, but definitely noticeable. My odd was never a *physical* child and didn't learn how to ride a bike until she was over 9 yrs old. She didn't like most Wii games. She struggles with auditory...mostly auditory but there's other stuff in the mix due to the APD. Since IM she's more active, and enjoys it. This has improved her quality of life both physically and socially. This has led to a greater sense of self, which helps with confidence. This leads to her trying harder in school. Her processing has improved which also helps with school. Again, I have no idea if anyone else notices, but dh and I do, she does, her therapist does. It was totally worth it. Insurance paid for most of it as it was considered OT. The person who administered it was a certified in IM and a retired teacher. She has families who do it at home but IDK anything about it. DyslexicParent
There is a IM-Home version available for $599. The company still requires you to pay for the services of an IM provider, so I have started to contact the ones in my area for all the details. Do you have to do this program with an OT, or can you do it yourself at home?
