LMA
I need some suggestions for a pretty, but useful, ballet bag for my 7 year old. Her bag is worn out and I told her I would get her a new one for her Nutcracker rehearsals. It needs to have two straps and it would be nice to have separate compartments inside the bag, such as one for hair stuff and one for her skirt and sweater wrap. An outside compartment for slippers would be nice. And it should be washable. I haven't been able to find such a bag. The duffles are okay, but I haven't found one with compartments on the inside. (She requires that it be a ballet or dance bag.)
dancer67
Well, my daughter is a figure skater, and she uses a Zuca Bag. It still would be good for dance though. It is on wheels. But it is expensive, but it has all the compartments you are looking for, and is perfect for dance competitions. My daughter the dancer. She just has a professional 3-tiered box(sort of like a caboodles) to hold all of her hair stuff, make up, etc. And she bought a dance bag at the dance store for shoes, tights etc. It was pricey. About $75.00. And of course for comps, we have the portable clothes hanger. If she is just looking for a bag for class, I would still buy one at a dance store. They are pricey, but you get a lot of years out of them. :D

I looked at the dance store but a lot of the bags don't have compartments/slots inside of them. It's just one big place to dump stuff and that's what she has now. So I was hoping there would be a something like a Zuca bag for the dance world (but made for dancers).
blakereese
I've been searching for something, too. I don't care if it is a dance bag, but I'd like pockets or something inside for her shoes. She does jazz, tap and ballet and I would love a bag that had a bunch of elastic pockets inside for her shoes. I have been looking at diaper bags (LOL!) because they often have those types of pockets for bottles or sippies. I need a bag that has at least 6 of these pockets and hopefully a separate area for clothes. AND it can't be too big because she's only six and I'd like her to be able to handle it. I'm at the point that I might just have a custom bag made at etsy, but I'm hoping I can find something now. :001_smile:

Clpretzel
Seems like a lot of people use lesportsac and Vera Bradley bags
Chelli
My mom bought these for my girls. We love them! They are cloth so easy to wash. Zippered compartment on the bottom for shoes. The duffel has extra pockets on the outside to store things. We use the backpack type one for class and the duffel for performances/rehearsals. The best part is that they are personalized which the girls LOVE!
Tasia
My boys stick to backpacks, but I've had my eye on this one for my niece.
Dobela
I have considered hand sewing panels into a bag for my daughter. Another mom found a great beach bag on clearance that has all those dividers - but the bag was too big for my dd to handle.
LMA
Here's what I am thinking of getting. Thanks for the link to discountdance. It never occurred to me to look there. I think this should hold a change of clothes and some food and a bottle of water without things getting jumbled up. Sometimes she also has to put her skating clothes in the bag since she has to go to rehearsal from skating. I would think this is large enough. http://www.discountdance.com/dancewear/style_A312.html?pid=421&Shop=Style&&skey=bloch%20bag&search=true&SID=340209846
AimeeM
My daughter uses a Capezio bag that we purchased from a local dance store; it has compartments and a separated area at the bottom (zippered) for shoes. It's larger and has several different straps attached for options.

I saw some Capezio bags but they were small.
