Cleopatra
My dd is reading through The Story of the Middle Ages - H.A. Guerber/Christine Miller as part of her history program. As much as I really like these books, I think I may have found an error ........ Chapter XXIX is titled "The Story of St. Augustine" but I think it goes on to tell the story of Augustine of Cantebury, not St. Augustine. The story tells of Augustine and Ethelbert and how this Augustine was the first bishop of Cantebury. So I believe the title of the chapter is incorrect. Am I right? Is St. Augustine, Augustine of Hippo, who is a completely different person than Augustine of Cantebury? And it is Augustine of Cantebury who preached to King Ethelbert, right? Historians and/or other wise people, please help me out!
Chris in VA
They both go by Saint. The St. Augustine of Canterbury is St. "AugustEEN" in pronounciation, and the one from Hippo is St. "AugusTIN." (a-GUST in) HTH.
