TheModestMom
I was thinking of putting my third and second grader in Bob Jones science and reading. I've never used Bob Jones though, I just went to Mardels and looked through it today. Do you have to buy the teacher's manuals for those grades? What do you use the teacher's guides for exactly? I wasn't able to look at the teacher's books at the bookstore, just the student books and they looked pretty self explanatory.
1GirlTwinBoys
With BJU, I think the Teacher's Guide is needed. Their guides are big and have tons of info and scripting in them. You also get the CD toolkit with the guide.
Mommy_of_4
You need the TG. There is a lot of info in it. DS is using the 2nd grade science right now and the TG has a lot of questions to ask him, it has the student textbook broken into lessons and a lot more info that is not included in just the student book. Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
If the teacher's guides are used as intended then they are the true meat of BJU for the Elementary grades. Reading might be the exception although it will give you the questions needed to ask for reading, not just regurgitating type questions but thinking questions. Also they have skill days that are discussed in the tm and not on the workpages.
