I mean, is anyone really stupid enough to think they are real comments and follow them? You would not believe how many spam comments I receive on my Filippo Brunelleschi post. The goal of these spambots is to acquire links that googlebots (and other search engines) find when crawling the web. The more links google finds to a page, the more higher page rank it assigns to that page, and the higher that page will appear in searches. If the link includes or is near the specific key words that the spammers want to rank high for, that's even better for them.
