BlueTaelon
I listed some bricks/pavers on craigslist and got this reply: Good day all, what is your phone number, can you text me at xxx-xxx-xxxx or hot reply all and I will get a return in my personal mail box, I am definatly interested in the pavers. Thanks Andy I X'd out the number but its by no means a local number. Its attached to a military email address for the base about an hour from here. I think so, because it says "pavers" in the message. When I get Craigslist spam, it never has the name of what I'm selling. It's just a generic "I'm interested." Also, how much are you asking? Spammers never bother me unless what I'm selling is worth more than $100 or so.

Selling about 300 12x12 pavers which is worth a bit over $300 retail. Only asking 50 cents each.
ssavings
DH can't access our personal email @ work, so he has done this - send a message to a person then cc our personal email. That way, he gets the responce at home or work?

TXMomof4
I.don't have a local number - my cell phone is a tx number and I'm in ga. Lots of people keep their cells when they move and don't have a local area code.

Because military people move around a lot, it is very common for them to have out-of-area cell phone numbers. A lot of people who live near me have San Diego area codes because of this. ZooRho
you can also try googling the number and see what shows up
BlueTaelon
Well I still feel a bit weird. First he only wanted about 30 of them and we said no, its all or nothing. Then he said he'd take them all and will pick up Sat morning at 8:30. Going to see if I can get a friend to be here when/if he shows up. He's a retired cop, built like a linebacker. Just seems kinda weird over all, usually I would just meet in public but I can't exactly move a ton of bricks. Maybe I'm just being extra wary because they are coming to my home, I've been ripped off/robbed on more then one occasion. I do not like ANYONE coming over I don't know well because of it. It is a good idea to have a friend with you, but it doesn't sound fishy at all.

I wouldn't worry about the phone number not being local. many people use their cell as they main phone, and don't bother to change the number when they move. My daughter's had a local number to us when they attended university on the other side of the country. he mentions what you are selling, and his name. there are also indications he's military at a technically local base.
