Baby sleep

My Dd, 3 months old (but was a month premature), hated A/C and the indoors all summer. It was a long, hot summer, and I spent almost all of it outside. Now school is back in session (Dw is a college prof, and I've gone back to school), and she is no longer happy for very long outside. She's okay at daycare, a little fussy at home, but absolutely angry when we just try to have a day out. Trying to get more than two errands done in an afternoon? Fuggedaboutit! Am I going to have to get all of my groceries delivered?

I guess what I want to know is: How long is this fussy phase going to last? Why is it so hard for to nap through noise all of a sudden?
