joyfulhomeschooler
I feel silly asking, but how do you tell what genre a book fits into? I have some books I want my son to read but I want to have him read one from each genre. Will it tell me somewhere on the book? Can I look it up somewhere? newlifemom
Not necessarily, but you could learn a lot by how it is placed in the library. Poetry is in one area, religion in another. Folk Tales are in the 300s, etc. Of course with fiction it is a little more complicated, but you could also google it. That said, all I could think of with your title was booKs and let me tell you that was funny. :D
Mrs Mungo
Here is a starter list of genres. Maybe this would be a start? What do you mean you want to have him read one of each genre?

What do you mean you want to have him read one of each genre? Did you have a link? We are doing DITHOR from HOD and it suggests having you child read a book from each of a number of genres... biography, adventure, fantasy, etc. I have a bunch of SL books and was hoping I could find out what genre they were. Make sense?

Arcadia
My older boy was in a summer book club for 3rd-4th graders and the librarian gave out a list of suggested reading by genre. Your library might have a list by genre. The Scholastic book wizard also list the genre for books.
Mergath
The copyright page of each book will list the different genres it falls into.
