Mukmuk
As above. DS has been using what I thought him - eg, 3^1/2 means sqrt 3. This has worked very well till lately, when the program marked him wrong for a few questions and it turned out he was right. He's livid! How do you guys handle this? Do you use latex? TIA! wapiti
Just a guess, but for a fractional exponent I would type 3^(1/2) FWIW, I think there's another way to write it, maybe sqrt{3}
Mukmuk
Ok, DS looked at the answers for what he got wrong and for the next one, typed in 10\ sqrt 3 and got it correct. I don't know what this is ... Maybe this is Latex? Wapiti, yes he tried that, but because there are so many brackets, eg 10(3^(1/2)), I think he must have cut down on some. Kathy in Richmond
Has he seen the helps for inputting answers on the Alcumus site? Click on "Instructions" and then "Answering Problems" on the menu at the top of the Alcumus screen. It would be a good idea to print out that page and keep it nearby when he's working.:) Yes, part of this is that they're introducing the kids to LaTeX formatting.
