fourcatmom
Based on the recent discussions about TT and my kids test scores, I have decided to put it on hold. I am going to try and purchase Gamma from Math U See and use that with both of them for review. I am hoping that might help reinforce these concepts that they seem to not understand. If you order MUS - did you order the blocks through them or purchase them else where? Do I need a set for each child? Is the workbook easy to copy or should I get one for each child? Thanks! Mystie
You only need one set of blocks per family, but one workbook per student. I think Gamma does a great job in integrating multiplication and place value so that both make sense. My oldest is on the last lesson right now and I've been pleased with the clever explanations on the DVD.

I am glad that you like the program. The more I think about it, the more I think it's a good solution for now.
happyWImom
I just got MUS for my dd who is using TT! She is way behind (due mostly to my constant switching of curriculum:blush5:) and I was pleased w/TT in the beginning, because it was finally something that she liked & "got", and we didn't butt heads. But, I didn't feel she was getting enough with it. We are going to continue with TT, but add in MUS, and go from there. Because I have 1 more year of TT that I purchased this summer. Good luck to you!:001_smile:

Shelsi
I think at the gamma level you only need 1 set of blocks even if both your kids are working on it at the same time. My ds is on delta and dd is starting on primer right now. The worksheets are super easy to copy. If you're going to order the workbooks you might as well order the blocks from MUS as well I would think.

justamouse
Now, see, we love MUS, but my guy wanted TT for Alg as a pre alg course, and my Dd17 loved TT (for algebra), so that's what I'm letting him use.

Have you liked MUS so far? Thanks for sharing! My ds is totally eating up MUS-he is doing many lessons at a time (it's Alpha, so basically review, but he loves it, and he has also just started TT3). My dd says she "hates" math, but she is whipping through Beta, also. I am very encouraged by the dvd lessons; I like the way he teaches. happyWImom
I hope it works for you-and one last update. Dd, who was calling MUS "Math U Stink" (clever, huh???) today did 2 lessons in Beta, then asked "Can I do another?":hurray:
