lynn
I made a meat spaghetti sauce last Tuesday with hamburger and sausage. It's been in the fridge in a closed ziplock bowl since after dinner last Tuesday. Is this still good or to risky? I meant to serve it this weekend but no one was home. Guest submarines
If it smells fine, I'd eat it.
ILiveInFlipFlops
No, I wouldn't take the chance. 5 days is my cutoff for things like that.
regentrude
No. Not if it has meat in it. For a vegetarian sauce, I'd go by look and smell because the most likely problem would be mold - but the toxins in spoiled meat don't necessarily smell. AnIslandGirl
We have a 48 hour rule for all cooked meat. I'd toss it in a heartbeat!
pitterpatter
I wouldn't be able to do it.
Impish
Nope, I go w/a max of 3 days. Even then, I debate. I usually use it up w/in 24 hrs.
marbel
My max is 4 days. If it makes you feel any better, I end up throwing away WAY too much stuff because it didn't get eaten when I thought it would, and I forgot to freeze it. Makes me emotionally sick to do it but better that than physically sick!
Catwoman
I would absolutely, positively toss it out.
Alte Veste Academy
DH would eat it...and live. I would not. Definitely not. I would try my best to toss it before DH could see it and eat it. If he did see it and insist on eating it, I would forbid him to give any to the kids. He would begrudgingly comply. I don't lay down the law too often around here. :tongue_smilie: Can you tell that this has happened to me before?
Heatherwith4
It's probably fine, but no, I wouldn't eat it.
